Discover practical steps to overcome procrastination by breaking tasks into small, actionable chunks

Procrastination isn’t a sign of laziness—it’s often a reaction to feeling overwhelmed. Today, I experimented with a simple technique: breaking down my biggest task into the tiniest possible steps.

For instance, instead of telling myself “write the report,” I broke it into “open document,” “write three sentences,” and “save the file.” It sounds almost too simple to work—but it did. The hardest part is always starting. Once you take the first step, momentum carries you forward.

I also realized the importance of forgiving yourself for delays. Beating procrastination isn’t about forcing perfection; it’s about making progress, however small. By the end of the day, I completed more than I usually would, and it only took a few minutes to begin.
